Ein Kerem, Jerusalem, Hometown of John the Baptist
Explore the Visitation and John BeHarim churches at the sites of two events that gave rise to the Magnificat and Bendictus canticles.
In this one hour live virtual tour we will visit the village of Ein Kerem, the hometown of John the Baptist. During the tour we’ll visit two churches commemorating two events that have given rise to two significant Christian prayers – the Visitation Church where Mary chants the Magnificat (or Mary’s canticle) and St. John BeHarim Church where John was born and where his father, Zachariah, blessed him in what is known as the Benedictus or the Canticle of Zachariah. In between these churches we will stop at Mary’s Spring and walk the picturesque allyes of the village, just as John must have done 2,000 years ago.
